My First Hate Mail!

by Mike, under General

Following my attendance at the Bayside City Council meeting last week someone found it pertinent to send me my first hate mail! I am flattered by this as it is wonderful to be treated as a normal human being as opposed to somebody who has broken his neck and is confined to a wheelchair most of the time. Just so that you are aware my website is not about hate mail. It is about recovery, persistence, determination, defying the odds and the application of the human spirit. It is an important outlet for me to share my achievements and I know others look at it in the same way. Any further hate mail in relation to my involvement in the community will be deleted as soon as I am aware that it is there.

Cheers,

Mike.

Good to hear the latest bug setback has been and gone. Wonderful to hear from you today and to know that Ash continues to enjoy big school and has made it through the first full week after having a month of Wednesdays at home.
Hope your ride went well this morning. See you soon. Can’t wait

There are some dickheads out there Mike, and you’ve done a very dignified response to his or her hate-mail. I always find if I meditate then unjustified criticism melts away into nothing. Best wishes on your continued recovery, regards KB.

After just returning from a very overwhelming visit in New Zealand with my sister & her husband who had a kite boarding accident 5 weeks ago leaving him a complete paraplegic, my view on almost everything in life has been turned on it’s head. You see the world through very, very different eyes and whilst it might seem like a cruel thing to say, I almost wish everyone has an experience with tragedy at some point in their life as you can come out a far better person for it.
You can only feel sorry for this fool who wrote you the hate mail, he is not truly experiencing the purpose of life.

Mike, My sister in law, Annette Hine-Thomas a nursing sister working with TAC patients on the Mornington Peninsula spoke to me, suggesting my son-in-law Damian Frires and daughter Ella, might be able to contact you in relation to Damian’s T12 Complete, which occurred during a kiteboarding accident. Damian is being ‘reeducated’ as Annette puts it, to adjust to a life of paraplegia. He was an active sportsman who is currently being told that no real recovery is possible. You appear to hold a firm view to the contrary. Is it possible to have Damian contact you via this site, to gain a more positive view? Best regards and best wishes. Richard Thomas.
(Screw the hate mail guy by the way).
