Merry Christmas to all!
Just a quick post to wish you all Merry Christmas. Monica’s family has begun to descend on us already with brother Simon and his wife Alexis and two kids arriving yesterday. I am looking forward to enjoying the festive season where my rehab and my health are not the centre of attention. I’m looking forward to focusing on the kids and enjoying their smiles and laughter over the next few weeks as we no doubt shower them with far too many gifts!
I am also looking forward to beginning a new year. This one has brought a little too much bad luck! My accident was bad enough and then our awesome dog Charli passed away last week. I had a dream to walk again with her and it breaks my heart that I can’t do that. I know that when I walk again no matter how far it is that she will be walking with me, looking up at me, stopping at every second tree to relieve herself, and of course seeking out food wherever it may be.
Whatever you have planned for the festive season all the best, keep well, and be safe.
Cheers,
Mike.

Christmas eve Mike and a thunderstorm about to roll in as I sit in the tent at “The Bay”. It will be a different Christmas, no doubt about that with you and your family in Melbourne, Sally and her family in Denmark (WA)and Peter in Brisbane. The challenge will be to get to all before the return to the grind. Have a Richard “State of Origin” at Possum Creek Green this afternoon as NSW V Qld in a variety of sports. Have the usual BBQ marquee breakfast tomorrow befor heading to the state which is an hour behind for the first visit. Look forward to catching up with you on the 27th. You might plan that aquathon and there is no guarantee that I will do the walk leg either. Keep it going team! Best wishes for xmas and may the best gift be the one we all wish for! Love Mum and Dad.

Good Evening Michael, I’ve only just heard of your unfortunate accident. Enough said. I hope (I know) you will be forging ahead at full steam! I’ve perused your website and you’ve still got that cheeky smile! Your family is gorgeous. I’m heading down Melbourne way end of January 2009, would love to catch up and chat about the old umpiring days at Sydney. I still remember the day at North Shore you were running backwards and tripped over the cricket pitch cover and without missing a beat did a 360 bounced up and kept running (except for the brown stain all the way down your back) Steve Power

Dear Mike, Mon and Ash,
Been thinking of you all, after Christmas there is always a few quiet days to think and reflect. I was so sad to hear about Charli. I know what it’s like to lose a much loved pet and not be there at the end, my dog Lassie died at a boarding kennel when I was on a family holiday, it’s many years ago now, but I don’t forget her. Don’t feel guilty about her last day, think about all the great times you had together, I know Charli had a life most dogs would envy.
Wishing you continued strength and a much deserved miracle in 2009. Sue.

Hi Mike
Although I heard back in October about your situation I have only just today discovered this website and have spent some of the morning reading through some of the amazing and inspiring content. It is clear to me that you remain as determined and resilient as when we were in umpiring here in Sydney, and I wish you all the very best in your new journey. Although about to move to Tassie I will still get to Melbourne every now and then and I would like to catch up with you.
Take good care and all the very best, Mike Heinrichs.
