An old doona cover …. a new mantra
Thankfully Mike was well enough (just) to make it home to Blue House for the weekend. Apparently it has medicinal properties as we returned him on Monday well and refreshed for hopefully a full week of therapy – lots of early starts this week and an early finish on Friday – what a great week!
Due to the hotter weather, I was forced to find a thinner single doona and cooler doona cover – apparently the one I had was hot??? The only one I could find was one I bought years ago for a friends little boy when they came to visit – it was a Bob the Builder one. At first Mike was not impressed but by Sunday afternoon he had decided that Bob was on to something …. “can we fix it – yes we can!”.
A massive thankyou to our pre-injury physio / magician – Rob Capaldi. As many of you know Mike has had a niggling sore lower back for a month or so that just wasn’t improving. An hour of Rob’s time and he is much looser and feeling fantastic – thanks Rob!
The long and short of it – Mike is better and back on deck. He started some woodwork yesterday – I am demanding a chopping board before he leaves here! Anyway, he will be doing that with Ash over the next week or so. And the lovely Erin has set up some cooking time in the next couple of weeks. One of the other guys in here has a 13 month old girl so apparently there is going to be cooking with the boys and their little girls – I believe that cupcakes and muffins are on the agenda!

Great to read your progress. Sounds like a lot happening at Talbot. Here – all going pretty well. Will got his mods on his car yesterday so today we went off for a drive to Kerang. He is very happy with it…despite being a couple of km’s out the road and a passing car threw a stone and put a chip on the windscreen – he wasn’t happy – but welcome to the Mallee! Showed it off to his friend in Kerang.
Talk of the town has been William being towed around town by Rosalie his sister. She riding a bike and he holding on to a skipping rope tied to the bike! Do wish we had the ready access to the physio. We have a physio coming from Bendigo tomorrow to do an assessment and consider a program for Will. Bye for now and we really do think you are an amazing family.

Great to hear of Will’s return to civilisation. Sounds as though he is making the most of it. good luck with the physio. I know how important it is. (Mike’s Mum)

Hi Michael,
It’s Kate Bright (nee Pratley) here! It was with great shock that my family and I heard about your accident only yesterday – I’m sorry we did not know earlier in order to send our messages of support and best wishes.
After having a look at your website it is truly amazing and inspiring to see how much you’ve achieved over the last few months. You have a wonderful family and a great group of friends not to mention your own strength and determination to continue to get better.
Wishing you all the very best,
Kate

Hi Michael,
We have only just heard about your accident in the last day or so. Since then you have been in our thoughts constantly. we remember the days in the Wagga Swim Club with much fondness and have followed your journey through occasional contact with Leslie and Bruce.
We can only admire how much you have progressed and with your will and determination you will achieve to the maximum. You have a great support crew.
If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to ask.
Our very best wishes for your recovery. Marion and Jim Pratley

We are sending you our best wishes especially so you can continue to fight those demons (physical and mental) which (we suspect) appear too often for your liking. The strength of you and your family is inspiring.
With love from Mike and Meg

Hello Michael
I don’t know if you got my email message via your administrator, so just in case, here is the content again …
Have a look at the Ten network at 5.30am each weekday, over the next 6 months, and plan to be in Sydney on 15th-16th May 2009.
This could change your life … again !
Best wishes
