Forbesy Loves the Physio-terrorists

by markm, under Updates by Mon

Hi Guys

A good day followed by a bad day and night. Food is going well. Still on restricted diet but we are trying to get lots of the good juice in to him. Apparently the nurses are getting ready to do a nandos run!

A huge thankyou as usual to the hospital staff for all their work with Mike, particularly the wonderful speechies (who have been so fantastic about getting Mike on to food again and a step closer to re-hab ….. or as Mike is calling is calling it “6-9 month boot camp”); the ‘physioterrorists’ who are pulling out and dusting off all sorts of equipment to challenge Mike; the spinal staff who are being so supportive of the complementary therapies we are trying with Mike and who are fantastic.

You will all be pleased to hear that most patients refer to the physio’s in the spinal area as ‘physioterrorists’ but Mike looks forward to their visits and requests extra sessions. The lovely Jack and Lisa have pulled out the ‘electrocution’ machine, as Jack calls it, to try to get some contractions in Mike’s quads and abs. The batteries ran out before Mike’s quads tired …. but apparently they were just old – he is taking credit for wearing them out!
Anyway, all good stuff.

As I wrote the above, we have been told that Mike has caught a bug. The good news is that he gets a private room – he is now in bed 23. No doubt Mitch or Sammy will be able to set my mind at ease and provide you all with a better explanation. Hopefully he fights it off well.

Thanks,
Mon.

Left Mike this morning after an early visit before catching the flight back to the work place in Sydney. It was “Hi Dad, how you doin?” as I walked in the door and he was setting the agenda for the day. He showed the speech pathologists his new party trick and questioned them on their knowledge of muscles as he showed them his new skill. They got the tricep bit! Then he indicated he wanted a tele conference with his ANZ work team to say thanks and for him to answer any questions…. so I guess this will be happening soon. I arrive back at the work place (Barker College) and so many people made the inquiry as I took the squad for their afternoon session. Many prayers are out there. We’re doing well, it’s a team and thanks to all the good work and support. I belive now that Chloe and Ash are designated passengers for the careering corridor chair… well done Bov!
